In Karachi’s commercial heart, even the most established jewellery shops are not safe from organised criminal gangs. On April 29, 2026, one of the most shocking robberies in recent Karachi history took place on Zaib-un-Nisa Street in Saddar. Two armed suspects broke into a jewellery shop in the early hours of the morning, held the security guard at gunpoint, looted an entire safe containing gold jewellery and cash worth an estimated Rs 200 million and escaped without triggering a single alarm. The incident was caught on CCTV cameras installed outside the shop. However the cameras outside were not enough to stop what was happening inside. This robbery raises one urgent question for every shop owner in Karachi: is your current camera system truly protecting your business or simply recording what you have already lost?
Saddar Karachi Jewellery Shop Robbery — What Happened on April 29?
On the night of April 28, 2026, the owner of a jewellery shop on Zaib-un-Nisa Street in Saddar Karachi closed his shop as normal and went home. He had no idea that within a few hours his entire safe would be gone.
At approximately 4:40 AM on April 29, two suspects arrived at the shop on a motorcycle carrying iron rods and a metal cutter. They used the cutter to slice through the shop shutter and forced their way inside. According to police, the security guard on duty was immediately held at gunpoint. The suspects then offered the guard Rs 50,000 to cooperate and help them move the heavy safe out of the shop. The guard complied. The suspects loaded the safe and fled the scene on their motorcycle. However they left without paying the guard a single rupee of the promised amount.
The bazaar watchman noticed something suspicious and informed police at approximately 5:15 AM. By that time the suspects were long gone. CCTV footage installed outside the shop clearly captured the suspects arriving with their tools and later leaving with the safe. Police also began collecting footage from Safe City cameras in the surrounding area to track the escape route.
The scale of this robbery shocked the entire city. Initial estimates from authorities suggested the stolen safe contained gold jewellery, silver pieces and cash worth approximately Rs 200 million. Sindh Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar personally took notice of the incident and sought a detailed report from the DIG South. The case was registered at Preedy Police Station under SHO Ayub Mirani.
Within days police tracked down and arrested two close associates of the main suspect from Jhang in Punjab. A significant quantity of stolen gold and silver was recovered from their possession. Authorities confirmed that more than 50 percent of the stolen valuables have been recovered and efforts are ongoing to arrest the main suspect.

Three Security Failures That Made This Robbery Possible
The Saddar jewellery shop robbery was not just a crime. It was a masterclass in exploiting security weaknesses. The suspects spent approximately 45 minutes inside that shop cutting through a shutter, negotiating with a guard, locating the safe and physically carrying it out through the front entrance. For 45 full minutes not a single alert was triggered, not a single alarm went off and the shop owner sleeping at home had absolutely no idea his entire business was being emptied. When we break down this incident carefully three critical security failures stand out that every Karachi shop owner must understand immediately.
No Indoor Camera to Monitor the Shop After Hours
This is the single biggest security failure in the entire Saddar robbery. CCTV cameras were installed outside the shop facing the street. However there was no indoor camera system covering the interior of the shop itself.
This one gap allowed the suspects to work freely inside the shop for 45 minutes without being monitored in real time. No indoor camera meant no live footage of the suspects faces, no recording of exactly which safe or counter they targeted and no real time alert sent to the shop owner while the crime was actively happening.
A proper indoor security cameras in Karachi setup covering every corner of the shop interior would have captured crystal clear footage of both suspects faces and triggered an immediate mobile alert to the shop owner the moment any movement was detected inside the shop after closing hours.
No Real Time Alert Sent to the Shop Owner
The shop owner found out about the robbery only after the bazaar watchman noticed the open shutter and called police at 5:15 AM. By that time the suspects had already been inside for approximately 35 minutes and were preparing to leave with the safe.
This is a direct result of having no smart camera alert system connected to the shop owner’s mobile phone. Modern IP cameras with motion detection send an instant push notification to the owner’s phone the moment any movement is detected inside the shop after it is locked and closed. Had this system been in place the owner would have received an alert within the first 60 seconds of the suspects entering and police could have been dispatched immediately.
Security Guard Had No Camera Watching Over Him
The third and most alarming failure was that the security guard was completely alone with no camera monitoring his own position. This made it extremely easy for the suspects to approach him, threaten him and bribe him without any record of the conversation or transaction being captured.
When a security guard knows that a camera is watching him at all times he is far less likely to cooperate with suspects even under pressure. The presence of a visible indoor camera covering the guard post creates accountability that protects both the shop and the guard himself. In this robbery the absence of any such camera gave the suspects the freedom to manipulate the guard completely without consequence.
CCTV Camera Solutions Every Karachi Shop Owner Needs Right Now
The Saddar jewellery shop robbery lasted 45 minutes. The suspects had iron rods, a metal cutter and a plan. What they did not have to worry about was an indoor camera watching them, a mobile alert waking the shop owner and a monitoring system holding the security guard accountable. The right camera solution covers all three of these gaps simultaneously. Here is exactly what every Karachi shop owner needs to install today.
Indoor IP Camera — Eyes Inside Your Shop 24 Hours a Day
An indoor IP camera installed at strategic points inside your shop is the single most important security upgrade any Karachi shop owner can make right now. Unlike an outdoor camera that only covers the entrance, an indoor IP camera watches every corner of your shop interior continuously and sends an instant alert to your mobile phone the moment any movement is detected after closing hours.
In the Saddar robbery the suspects entered the shop and worked freely for 45 minutes because nobody was watching them inside. A set of IP cameras for shop security positioned to cover the safe area, the display counters and the guard post would have captured the full faces of both suspects in high resolution from the moment they entered and sent an immediate alert to the shop owner before they even reached the safe.
Modern indoor IP cameras also come with two way audio which means the shop owner can speak directly through the camera from his mobile phone and warn intruders that police have been called. This feature alone is enough to send most suspects fleeing before they can complete the robbery.
Analog CCTV with DVR — 30 Days of Solid Evidence for Police
While IP cameras provide real time alerts, a full analog CCTV system connected to a DVR recorder provides something equally valuable for shop owners: 30 continuous days of recorded evidence that police can access at any time.
In the Saddar case police immediately began collecting CCTV footage from outside the shop and from Safe City cameras in the surrounding area. This footage was critical in identifying and tracking the suspects who were later arrested in Jhang. However if the shop had analog CCTV cameras in Karachi covering the inside of the shop as well, police would have had crystal clear indoor footage of both suspects faces, their full movements inside the shop and the exact moment the guard was threatened and bribed. This level of evidence would have led to much faster arrests and full recovery of all stolen valuables.
A complete analog system for a jewellery shop in Karachi typically covers the main entrance shutter, all display counter areas, the safe storage area, the guard post and the rear exit. Every camera feeds simultaneously into a single DVR unit that stores all footage automatically without any manual operation required from the shop owner.
Best Dahua Camera System for Karachi Jewellery Shops and Businesses
When it comes to protecting a high value business like a jewellery shop in Karachi, the camera system you install must deliver three things without compromise: crystal clear image quality, instant mobile alerts and continuous 24 hour recording. Dahua cameras deliver all three at a price point that works for every size of business from a small single counter jewellery shop in Saddar to a large multi floor showroom anywhere in Karachi.
Dahua Indoor IP Camera — High Resolution Coverage for Display and Safe Areas
The Dahua indoor IP camera range is specifically designed for high value commercial interiors like jewellery shops, banks and currency exchange businesses. It delivers up to 4MP resolution which means every face, every hand movement and every item on your display counter is captured with complete clarity even in low light conditions at night.
For a jewellery shop the most critical camera positions are the main display counter area, the safe storage room and the guard post near the entrance. A Dahua indoor IP camera installed at each of these three points creates a complete interior monitoring network that leaves suspects with absolutely nowhere to operate without being fully recorded.
Key features for jewellery shop use:
4MP high resolution — clear face capture
Night vision — works in complete darkness
Motion detection — instant mobile alert
Two way audio — speak to intruders remotely
Wide angle lens — covers full counter area
Works with Dahua mobile app — free download
Dahua Analog Camera — Complete Outdoor and Shutter Coverage
In the Saddar robbery the suspects used a metal cutter to slice through the shop shutter. This entire process took several minutes and was fully visible from the street. A Dahua outdoor analog camera installed directly above the shutter would have captured the suspects faces and their cutting tools in high resolution from the very first second they touched the shutter.

Protect Your Karachi Shop Before the Next Robbery Happens
The Saddar jewellery shop robbery on April 29, 2026 was not the first major shop robbery in Karachi and it will not be the last. What makes this case different is the scale. Rs 200 million stolen in 45 minutes by two suspects who walked in through a cut shutter, bribed a guard and walked out with an entire safe. The entire operation was possible because the indoor security system simply was not strong enough to stop them or even alert anyone while it was happening.
Every shop owner in Karachi who reads this article needs to ask themselves one honest question right now: if two suspects entered your shop tonight after closing, how long would it take before you found out? If the answer is anything longer than 60 seconds then your current camera system is not protecting your business. It is only recording your losses.
PAK Communications has helped hundreds of shop owners, jewellers and business owners across Karachi design and install professional grade camera systems that cover every blind spot, send instant mobile alerts and store 30 days of continuous evidence that police can use immediately when needed.
